Delaunay Blériot Silk Tie
An exciting and colourful silk tie inspired by the painting Homage à Blériot (1914) painted by the founder of the Orphist movement, Robert Delaunay.
Orphism was an offshoot of Cubism, emerging in the early 20th century and was pioneered by Delaunay and his wife, Sonia. The movement emphasised the use of vibrant, swirling colours to create rhythmic, abstract compositions that conveyed a sense of movement and harmony. Unlike Cubism’s focus on form and structure, Orphism prioritised the emotional and visual impact of colour, drawing inspiration from music and light to evoke a more spiritual or sensory experience.
Homage à Blériot typifies Delaunay's use of these techniques and this philosophy of strong contrasting colour to evoke a sense of modernity and wonder for the growing industrial age.
