A Midsummer Night's Dream by Georghia Ellinas & Illustrated by Jane Ray

Sale price£12.99

This beautifully illustrated book is perfect for introducing younger readers to Shakespeare's best loved comedy.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream involves mischief making from Puck. He narrates this picture book retelling from Georghia Ellinas, illustrated by Jane Ray. Therefore, we learn that the mistakes along the way are accidental. After all how was he to work out to which of the two men ‘sleeping on the ground’ he was to apply a love potion? Furthermore, isn’t Puck an agent of Oberon? He must follow his commands! It seems a disagreement in the Fairy Kingdom makes ‘more work’ for Puck too.

While dropping a love potion into Lysander’s eyes rather than Demetrius has him spurn Hermia for Helena, its remedy seems troublesome too. After all, why would Helena trust Demetrius’s words of love, when he’s been unaware of her devotion previously. Then again, to trick Titania, Queen of the Fairies, into declaring her love for a clumsy actor with an ass’s head? How can Puck right the situation? Then again, how might Theseus be convinced that Hermia should follow her heart and be with Lysander?

This is a beautiful interpretation, that includes confident retelling alongside truly magical, inspiring pictures. Bookwagon recommends Georghia Ellinas’ and Jane Ray’s collaboration upon A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
