In his distinctive, iconic style, Michael Craig-Martin has produced a poster for Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. The design’s simplicity and vivid colour are characteristic of the artist’s nuanced depictions of everyday items that expose the tensions between objects and their representation. Craig-Martin is an artist familiar with Glyndebourne having previously been commissioned for our Festival Programme Book cover in 2013, producing a subsequent poster which is also on view as part of the exhibition.

Michael Craig-Martin, (b. 1941, Dublin, IR) lives and works in London. His work has been exhibited internationally at Seoul Arts Centre, Hangaram Art Museum, Seoul, KR; W1 Curates, Oxford Street, London, UK; Himalayas Museum, Shanghai, CN; Serpentine, London, UK; Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, UK; Luther W. Brady Art Gallery, Washington D.C., US; Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, IE and Whitechapel Gallery, London, UK.
