Edmund de Waal has created a poster design for Giulio Cesare using liquid kaolin, gold leaf, red oil stick, charcoal and graphite. Favouring a more traditional approach and incorporating typographic elements that include the opera’s acts and the name of its composer Handel, the striking minimalist design references the first edition of the opera score from 1724.

Edmund de Waal (b. 1964, in Nottingham, UK) lives and works in London, UK. He has exhibited at Gagosian, New York, US; The Feuerle Collection, Berlin, DE; Musée Nissim de Camondo, Paris, FR; Jewish Museum, New York, US; British Museum, London, UK; Turner Contemporary, Margate, UK; Theseus Temple, Vienna, AT; Victoria & Albert Museum, London, UK; Kunstindustrimuseet, Copenhagen, DK; Mashiko Museum of Ceramic Art, JP; Academy of Arts, Berlin, DE; The Courtauld Institute of Art, London, UK; Tate Britain, London, UK and National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, AU.
