Laura Footes (b.1988) studied modern languages at the University of Birmingham, L’Université de Toulouse II and the Sorbonne. She began her formal art education at The Royal Drawing School in 2012 and remained the following year to complete her training in painting. In 2014, Footes was awarded a scholarship to Art Students League in New York where she studied with Robert Cenedella, a student of German war artist George Grosz. She was also the recipient of the 2013/14 Derek Hill Scholarship and South Square Trust Scholarship. Footes has exhibited widely with work shown at Windsor Castle, Flowers Gallery, Mall Galleries and Buckingham Palace. She has also received commissions by the English National Ballet and David Kabiller, Trustee of The Terra Foundation for American Art. Last year, she held her first solo show at Puskin House in London. Footes’ work is held in numerous private and public collections, including The Royal Collection. Her work is based on personal experiences, memories and imagination, nourished and enriched through observational drawing.
