About The Artist

David Hockney

David Hockney, English painter, draftsman, printmaker, stage designer, and photographer. As an important contributor to the pop art movement of the 1960s, Hockney is considered one of the most influential British artists of the 20th century. When John Cox was invited to direct a new version of Stravinsky’s 'The Rake’s Progress' in 1975, he asked David Hockney– an artist with no opera experience – to design the stage set. This collaboration launched Hockney into two decades of opera.

This is 1989 Glyndebourne Fesitval Programme Book cover by David Hockney, OM, CH, RA. Colour laser copy, collage, uni-ball pen, uni-paint marker. The work decipts a scene from Glyndebourne.
